Open-Source Projects
“Open source is an essential part of any software strategy — from a developer’s laptop to the data center. At VMware, we’re committed to open source and their communities so that we can all deliver better solutions: software that’s more secure, scalable, and innovative.” Fair Use Source: https://tanzu.vmware.com/open-source
- Kubernetes - Kubernetes is an open-source system for automating deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications. It groups containers that make up a system into logical units for easy management and discovery. Kubernetes builds upon 15 years of experience of running production workloads at Google, combined with best-of-breed ideas and practices from the community. Kubernetes is released by the Linux Foundation’s Cloud Native Computing Foundation under the terms of the Apache License 2.0.
- Cloud Foundry - Cloud Foundry is an open source Platform as a Service (PaaS), sponsored and led by VMWare Tanzu, with contributions from a large ecosystem of organizations and individual developers. Cloud Foundry provides users with a choice of clouds, developer frameworks and application services, while increasing a user’s ability to build, test and scale applications. Cloud Foundry is released under the terms of the Apache License.
- Jasmine - A behavior-driven development (BDD) testing framework for JavaScript. Jasmine doesn’t rely on browsers, the Document Object Model (DOM) or other JavaScript libraries and is great for websites, node.js server-side coding, or any project running JavaScript. Jasmine’s clean syntax makes writing tests a breeze.
- Harbor - Harbor is an open source container image registry that secures images with role-based access control, scans images for vulnerabilities, and signs images as trusted. A CNCF Incubating project, Harbor delivers compliance, performance, and interoperability to help you consistently and securely manage images across cloud native compute platforms like Kubernetes and Docker.
- Contour - Contour is an open source Kubernetes ingress controller providing the control plane for the Envoy edge and service proxy. Contour supports dynamic configuration updates and multi-team ingress delegation out of the box while maintaining a lightweight profile.
- Velero - Velero is an open source tool to safely backup and restore, perform disaster recovery, and migrate Kubernetes cluster resources and persistent volumes.
